More information about our services:
Paragon Oil has developed successful long-term relationships with domestic and international fuel oil producers, traders, processors, shippers, and financial institutions. Paragon’s Supply and Marketing division has a team of professionals that monitors the world’s fuel oil trading markets and buys products at competitive prices.

To serve Paragon customers’ energy needs around the clock, we continue to research the many types of burners, boilers, and other combustion equipment currently in use in the energy industry. Along with the hardware, there are many types and grades of fuel oil available for use in this equipment. Environmental laws in different parts of the country also impact the quality specifications of the particular fuels that may be used. Paragon Oil primarily services three grades of oil: Numbers 2, 4, and 6.

Number 2 is “distillate fuels” because it is capable of being distilled or vaporized at very low temperatures. It is very fluid and flows like water at room temperature. Number 2 oil, also known as #2 Heating oil, is the most commonly used space heating oil for private homes (approximately 137,000 BTU per gallon).

Number 4 is a hybrid oil because it consists of a blend of Number 2 and Number 6 oils. It does not require a heated storage system or a heating to insure proper combustion (approximately 145,000 BTU per gallon).

Number 6 is the heaviest oil in our product line. It has the highest BTU content of all of our products. It is most commonly used in large office, residential, and industrial buildings. Number 6 Oil is a black, thick, semi0fluid material. It will not pour at room temperature. It requires heated storage and preheating to ensure proper combustion. It is the residual product of the refining processes after all the “light” products such as gasoline, diesel oil, and lubricants, have been extracted. The industry also refers to Number 6 as “Residual Oil.” In its most unrefined state, this product is used as asphalt for tarring purposes (approximately 150,000 BTU per gallon).

Whether it’s on-time delivery or ‘round-the-clock emergency burner service, you can be sure that Paragon Oil will be there for the long term. We will do whatever it takes to serve your needs. We never forget our founder’s “customer first” philosophy, providing integrity, quality, and concern for each customer through our comprehensive service plans. The prices are based on the type of heating equipment you have, the number of heating and hot water units, and the number of parts covered.

TIP: Consider converting your boiler to one that uses # 4 oil because # 4 oil is about 80 cents per gallon less (than #2 oil), you will save a lot. This applies to multifamily buildings with oil tanks 1,500 gallons or larger.  Please inquire in our Customer Assistance Department for other ways to save.
